First Fall

So I've got a list of "First Falls."  Falling off my bike, falling while running, falling in the snow, and falling off a curb are all included in this list.

Last weekend, I got to add another fall to the list.  This first fall was off my horse, Daisy.  And, boy, did it hurt and shake my little body up!  We have had horses for 8 years and I have had Daisy for 4 years.  Last weekend was my first fall off a horse...I'd say one fall every 8 years is something I can deal with.  However, I did not want to fall because falling off a horse is a long ways, especially, when the ground below is hard.  I tried my hardest to stay on as Daisy spooked unexpectedly, but then realized I just couldn't do it, even though, I was putting all my might into staying on.  When I realized I didn't have it in me to stay on, I let go of the reins and let myself kind of cannon ball fall off onto my right side.  Pain hit instantly, but nothing was broken!  I hit my head and thank goodness I'm smart and wear a helmet when I ride because my head hurt for the next few days.  It would have been much worse with out a helmet.  I also ended up with a very sore neck, rib cage, abs, arm, and hip.  Amazingly, only one little puny bruise showed up on my hip.  I keep expecting to see more, but it has been a week so I think the bruising stage has come and gone.  The only thing that is still sore is my bad hip, which seems to hurt if I simply look at it in the mirror.

Falling was scary, but getting back on Daisy wasn't.  I got right back on Daisy and we carried on like nothing had happened.  I also can't wait to ride again!!

Thanks to everyone who has been concerned with how I was doing after this first fall.

Weekend With Horses

A weekend spent with horses is about the best thing ever!  And it's even better when when you get to spend time with family and friends at the same time.

As many of you know, my sister and family had to say good bye to Erin's horse Hotrod about two months ago.  It was a very sad thing and we miss him because he was such a cool and great horse.  HotRod left us with many wonderful memories that will make him impossible to forget.  He will always be my favorite buckskin, which is what I always whispered in his ear as he headed into the show ring with my sister.  He would then always perform well.  Who knows if it was my "you're my favorite buckskin" pep talk or not

Erin and HotRod two years ago.

I'm going to say it was, though, and now I am going to have to whisper "you're my favorite dun" into Chuckee's ear.  Chuckee is Erin's new horse, and he is my favorite dun colored horse ever!  I can say that because I've met quite a few duns at buckskins shows with Erin and HotRod, especially, last summer.  Chuckee is young, sweet, easy going, and in love with my sister.  He's perfect and just what Erin needed after loosing her best friend, HotRod.

Erin and Chuckee.

Last weekend is when Chuckee came home to our farm, and I got to be there.  Waiting for him to get home was like waiting for a new baby, and meeting him for the first time was just like meeting a new baby...so super nerve racking and exciting!!  But it was the best because I got to be with my family and our horses.

My Motivation for the Next Two Weeks...

Include Spring Break at home and celebrating one year with Brian!  Why am I using these things as my motivation?  Well, these last two weeks leading up to spring break are going to be hectic and less than enjoyable.

Before today, these next two weeks of school included three exams, two quizzes, a scholarship with two essays, four labs, four or so shifts of work, a work meeting, and surviving life.  Thankfully, today I was able to check one exam and drafts for the scholarship essays off my list.  However, life and school still have time to throw plenty at me.  Actually, school already has.  For instance, next Thursday is going to SUCK!  I have two exams and a quiz that day.  These things will all be back to back.  And to top it off, the quiz is for one of the classes I am having an exam in!  It's soooo unfair!

But the good news is my Spring Break starts the moment I finish that quiz Thursday!  Yes, I will have lab and class on Friday, but they will be a piece of cake!  As soon as I am done with class Friday, it is good bye Pullman for eight days!

Spring break is looking good so far.  (I mean, how could it not?  I won't have to go to school.)  It's going to start off with Brian and I celebrating one year together!  I can not believe how fast this last year with him has gone.  It's been so great!  At home, I am going to ride my horse, cook food, and play games.  I am also hoping to go shopping one day.  I know I will feel the need to spend some money on cute stuff. Lastly and most importantly, I am looking forward to time with my family.  They may be crazy, but we sure do have some good times together!

So Spring Break, hurry it up please!
