Horse Wonders

Horses are amazing!  They are smart and can do great things.  They can also make you wonder "why are you doing that?" and "how did you get yourself into such a predicament?"

Here are such examples.

Daisy manages to get her ears out of her fly mask several times a day.  When she does this, she is funny to look at.

I was getting Daisy saddled last week.  I guess I took too long getting the bridle because when I came back to her she was sleeping and had to rest her chin on the hitching post.

 

Chuck likes to eat his grain out of a bucket from someone's lap while they sit in a chair.  Well I didn't have time to bucket feed him.  So I thought sitting the bucket in the chair would suffice.  I turned my back and turned back around to find he'd spilled grain everywhere but managed to keep the bucket up right as it fell to the ground.

This blanket on Chuck was in good condition when we put it on him after riding.  By the time we got to the house and looked out the window, he'd done this.  How?  We don't know.  Good became destroyed and unusable.

Fourth in George, WA

For the past several years, our family has been going up to George, WA for the Fourth of July.  The first year we went for the parade and pie.  Then we started doing the 2 mile Cherry Bomb Run/Walk, and my dad took his jeep in the parade a couple years ago.

This year I used signing up for the Cherry Bomb Run as motivation to start running again.  My goal was to run the whole two miles.  This little goal probably sounds silly, as it does to me, as I was a four time individual state qualifier for the cross country championships in high school, hold a record for my high school for fastest woman's time at state, have run a half marathon, and have completed a good handful of triathlons among other races.  Two miles really isn't that far, but it is tough when it hurts to run and you start getting ready 3 weeks before the race.  I met my goal!  And have not ran at all in the 3 days since. 

After the race, I pulled the pooper scooper wagon through the parade behind Erin and Chuck.  This was Erin and Chuck's first parade together as Erin rode as 2013 Colorama Rodeo Queen.  The two of them as a pair is a pretty sight and they sure got lots of waves and "they're so pretty" from the crowd.
