Bath Towel Wrap

So I've been wanting to share this special project on my blog since making it over Christmas break, but I had to wait until I gave it to the person I made it for.  I couldn't risk letting the secret slip!

Now it's been given and now I can share!  Yeah!

This project was made for a friend who got married.  I've had lots of friends getting married and having babies, so I've had to get creative in my gift making and gift giving.  For this special friend, I thought this bath towel wrap would be just perfect and useful. 

All I did was get a big bath towel (in a pretty color of course) and pretty matching fabric.  Then I, without a pattern or instructions, went to embellishing the towel with the fabric.  I love the color combo on this and the adorable fabric flower I added.  I'm happy with how pretty and well it turned out.  I put a lot of thought into it because I did not want certain stitches or velcro to show.  Putting the straps on was a challenge, but I did it!  I, of course, could not just give her the towel...I had to throw in some pretty purple matching panties for the occasion!

Holiday Crafting

I have been working on several projects over break because I have the time.  However, like all breaks, there just isn't enough time for me to get all the projects and crafts done that I want to.

My holiday crafting began with  an ornament making party with some girl friends before dead week.  It was pretty fun and we all got to make some really cute and pretty ornaments for our trees.  We also shared some good laughs!

Also, before I left school for break, I learned how to make center piece flower arrangements for dinner parties and wreaths.  Mine turned out so pretty if I may say so myself.  I had no idea how wreaths were made until I learned how to make them with the Hort Club.  Let's just say your fingers get pricked a lot and there is a lot of tugging on wire.  It's a painful but fun process with a pretty end product!

 

Since being home for break, I have made a lot of things.  I made things when Josie was over, but I also have made a dream catcher horse shoe, bath towel wrap, three red neck wine glasses, three hair flowers, and over a dozen embellished horse shoes for a Rodeo Queen event Erin has coming up.  I feel like I've made more stuff, but this is all that comes to mind right now.

I made Erin a special Christmas gift this year.  It is a dream catcher made out of a horse shoe.  However, the shoe isn't any ole shoe.  It was one of HotRod's first shoes he got after coming to our farm.  To string on the beads and dangle the feathers I used only HotRod's hair from his tail.  I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  It was tough to make because I wanted it to be perfect but mostly the memories of HotRod kept bringing tears to my eyes making it tough to see what I was doing.

These are the horseshoes I embellished.  I used fabric flowers, jewels, beads, twine, ribbon, feathers, buttons, and beads on the ones I made.  They all are pretty and different from one another.  They were fun to make and I have so many other ideas that I hope I have time to put together someday.

 

 

Crafting is the best when time allows!  I hope to be able to get a few more things done before I go back to school.  Stay tuned!

Christmas Break 2012

Christmas break came with perfect timing like it always does at the end of a hectic and stressful semester!  Of which, I ended with four solid A's and one B+.  This last semester was the best yet in terms of grades for me!  I'm finishing my senior year at WSU strong!

Although Christmas Break is a break from school, it is far from being easy going and calm.  My family and I have kept plenty busy with baking, having people visit, riding horses, decorating, sewing, cleaning, and going places.

Here are images that sum up the business, craziness, and happiness of the holiday season!

Sledding behind Chuck horse the morning after the first holiday snow.  It was a blast.  Before long Chuck was giving rides to the whole family!  He is such a good, strong, and easy going young horse!

My ginger bread village.  I powered through building this by cheating just a bit and using a hot glue gun to attach the house pieces together.  Thanks to Erin for her brilliant idea of using the glue gun!

 

As a Christmas tradition, I make cinnamon rolls Christmas Eve and let them rise overnight in the fridge so that my family can have fresh baked cinnamon rolls while opening gifts Christmas morning.  This year I did things a little differently...I made them as cupcakes using Paula Dean's Apple Cinnamon Roll Cupcake recipe.  They turned out to be pretty good and yummy!

 

My favorite Christmas gift this year was this purple and specially designed bronc halter Erin had made for Daisy.  Erin chose purple to match the other purple things I have gotten for Daisy.  She also choose to have the purple daisies on the halter be hand painted on and she chose purple and AB crystals for the conchos.  It is very pretty and Daisy looks so proud when we put it on her.  I love it!

 

Christmas break has been a good one, and I am so happy I have a few more days left to finish up projects and rest before starting my last undergrad semester at WSU.
