Good Times in the Greenhouse

I LOVE having a greenhouse.  So far all the plants are alive and flourishing!  It smells and looks wonderful inside.  Soon I am going to drag all the flower pots I've filled out to the patios.  I can't wait to see how gorgeous all the new clay pots filled with flowers look around the house.

 

My mom, dad, and I filled the Yukon XL with flowers at the WSU Hort Club plant sale a few weeks back.  There was barely room for me on the one seat left in the back.

 

Can you see the wagon?  We are so serious when we go to the plant sale that we take our own wagon to cart our goods around on.  We have to keep a close eye on that thing or other flower happy will take off with it.   

 

 

 Soon after we got all the plants home, I decided to get most everything into pots.  I really enjoy planning the pots and designing them to match one another depending on where they are going to end up around the house.  Everything looks great.

After class on Wednesday, I hit up Lowes and purchased supplies to make a raised garden bed.  Since I was in my little car, I had to get creative with loading eight foot boards in it.  As you can see, the boards went from the trunk all the way up to the front seat with me.  I would really love to have my own pickup but I can obviously make do with my Subaru!

Yesterday afternoon, my dad and I worked in the shop to build the raised garden bed.  I laugh when I think about all the blog posts I read about making your own garden bed at home.  Yes we used supplies we already had, like the blogs encourage you to do, but I don't think 4 inch screws or 5 twelve inch clamps in a huge shop with a power saw is what they had in mind. 

 

So there it is out by the greenhouse.  Next on the list is to find some dirt to fill it.  Then I can bring the tomato and pepper plants I have inside the greenhouse out to be planted.

 

Nursing School Update

Currently, I have been accepted to two of the four nursing schools I have applied to.  There are pluses and minuses to both places so far, which makes making up my mind difficult.  To add the difficulty (because I like a little challenge) I am going to see if the other schools send me acceptance letters.  Being accepted feels good, but it does not make decision making any easier.  Even though I do not know where I will decide to go next fall, at least I no longer have to worry about whether or not I filled in the pages of applications correctly or if I answered interview questions to the best of my abilities.  Really, so far so good on this nursing school journey.  One thing for certain, though, I will be staying in Eastern Washington (but that was a given).

Silly Update & Proper Use of Solo Cups

So all my friends with blogs have been posting posts recently.  FYI:  It's now been two weeks since I started this post.  My friend's posts have prompted me to take a look see at the last time I posted on my blog.  Well wouldn't you know its been over a month (now more).  I guess that's what happens with holidays, housesitting, and going to school full time.  Those three things really sum up what has gone on in my life since I last posted.

Break from school flew by in a blink of an eye.  I quilted, went to Vegas, did holiday stuff, and house sat.

Now I'm over half way through winter quarter.  I've just been going to school and housesitting and dog sitting.  The money is nice.  School gets in the way of everything else I would rather do, though.  I have not sewn for over a month.  I have not done any sort of craft for weeks.  I guess last week as Brian walked up the side walk to pick me up for Valentine's dinner I quickly wrote "You're quite a catch" on a bag of gold fish.  But that is where the creativity started and ended.  I am having creativity withdrawals. 

I know everyone is always so busy, but I am so busy times a hundred.  I just do not get how taking three classes at the community college has me more busy than five classes with labs and working part time like I did at WSU.  I have answers to a lot of things, but I cannot pinpoint the answer to this one.  Maybe all this busyness is all in my mind.

The big deal and stressor in my life right now is nursing school applications.  I have already submitted one to WSU, but now I am waiting for the quarter to finish up so I can send transcripts and applications off to a few of the community colleges in the area.  I am open to all the schools I am applying to.  It might seem obvious but it is not so obvious to some...I will make a decision on where to go after I get letters back in the mail.  That is if I get accepted.  Sure I get to choose where to apply, but they chose if they want me in their program.  If I had my mind set on one place, it would be all that more disappointing to not get accepted to my top choice. These programs are competitive and I cannot bank on anything. 

So I've been going to community college.  Community college has taught me a lot of things I thought I had learned at WSU while getting a Bachelors.  But no, I've learned some good stuff.  It took going to community college to learn the real purpose of solo cups.  At WSU they were used to drink out of.  The real and proper use of a solo cup, though, is on top of a computer in a math lab.  In the math lab, a teal cup means you cannot use your calculator because you are taking a test.  So next time you drink out of a solo cup, please realize you're using it wrong.  Go put it on top of your computer. 

I looked through my phone to see if I had any good pictures to share but I don't.  99% of my pictures are of human models from A & P lab or dissected stuff like eyes.  I'll spare ya, I won't post those.
